Replacing your HVAC filter can lower your unit’s energy consumption by up to 15 percent, according to a U.S. Department of Energy report.

Left unchecked, the motor will burn out and the system will overheat and fail. Dirty HVAC coils make the system work harder and are more prone to freezing over or burning out. They can also lead to costly HVAC cleaning expenses.

The cost of replacing your HVAC filter is a tiny fraction of the cost of repairing or replacing an entire HVAC system.
