IN OLD TOWN
BARCA Pier & Wine Bar
2 Pioneer Mill Way
Located in Robinson Landing along the Potomac River, BARCA was built on an Old Town commercial pier. An industrial freight container doubles as BARCA’s main bar, where you can find a great selection of red and white wines and specialty drinks such as La Cupula, with Beefeater gin, luxardo maraschino liqueur, pomegranate, and pineapple juice, and Stone Fruit Sangria. BARCA’s menu features classic Spanish small plates such as papas bravas, fried calamari, and garlic shrimp. Boat owners can pull up to the dock at Robinson Landing and for a small hourly fee, be assisted by the Robinson Landing dockmaster. Dogs are welcome at BARCA too!
Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden
1106 King Street
This open-air beer garden offers more than 70 beers and Belgian bites. Augie is best known for its extensive mussel menu. Augie’s cozy yet large patio is furnished with communal tables and several TVs where you can catch the big game. Pets are welcome on Augie’s patio but note that outdoor seating is only available on a first-come, first-served basis.
BRUT Wine Bar
118 S. Royal Street
Allison loves Brut to grab a glass of champagne. Located on a cute, quiet Old Town street, BRUT has several outdoor tables, perfect for people-watching. BRUT’s menu boasts a wonderful selection of sparkling wines and champagnes. If you’re hungry, you’ll enjoy BRUT’s nibbles like cheese and charcuterie, small and large plates, and another favorite of Allison’s, raclette. Conveniently, BRUT also sells wine and Champagne to-go. Seating is first-come, first-served and BRUT is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
5 Cameron Street
Blackwall Hitch has an amazing back patio with river views, a variety of seating options, and fire pit coffee tables! You can also sit on the covered Dockside Patio at the front of the restaurant. Stop by for Blackwall Hitch’s excellent Happy Hour every weekday between 4 – 7:30 p.m., with $3 bottled beer, $5 wines by the glass, and $7 specialty cocktails and draught beers.
IN DEL RAY
2000 Mount Vernon Avenue
Locals love the Front Porch at Del Ray’s Evening Star, which actually winds its way around the building and into Evening Star’s lush backyard with Adirondack chairs. Enjoy this alfresco beer, wines by the glass, and specialty cocktails like the Stay Bzzzy Gin, made with strawberry syrup, honey, lemon, and orange biers, yum!
Piece Out Del Ray
2419 Mount Vernon Avenue
Visit Piece Out Del Ray for outdoor Happy Hour every Tuesday – Saturday from 4-7 p.m. for specials including $2 off drafts, $4.50 wines by the glass, $5 sangria, as well as $5 and $6 appetizers. Pizza aficionados will appreciate the authentic Detroit- and New York-style slices!
1503 Mount Vernon Avenue
The Garden is the perfect spot for outdoor fun while enjoying a wide range (16 draft lines!) of Virginia beers and cocktails. The menu offers plenty of shareable plates such as Mexican Street Corn, Warshore Oysters on the 1/2 Shell, and Smoked Chicken Wings. The Garden is pet-friendly and offers lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga! The Garden opens at 3 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and at 10 a.m. (serving breakfast) on the weekends.
10 East Glebe Road
Mac loves this neighborhood hangout boasts plenty of outdoor seating under a covered patio. Take advantage of Northside’s happy hour (weekdays from 4 – 6 p.m.) specials on beer, wine, and appetizers like 85 cent wings! Northside also offers great Raw Bar Wednesday and Taco Thursday deals. Northside opens at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, and 11:30 a.m. from Tuesday- Sunday.
