November Events Happening in Alexandria in 2023

This November, start the holiday season off right with some fun and festive holiday events. From the annual City of Alexandria Tree Lighting, to cocktail classes and cookie decorating, as well as the 47th Annual Turkey Trot and Small Business Saturday these events are sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Below is a list of events we’re looking forward to throughout Alexandria and the DC area.

Chis Isaak: It’s Almost Christmas Tour

Nov. 9, 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm

The Birchmere, 3701 Mt Vernon Ave                                                                               

Veteran rock singer Chris Isaak’s career has spanned more than 40 years. His hit single, “Wicked Game,” is widely known and several of his songs have been used in movies directed by David Lynch. Get your tickets here!  

Ice and Lights – The Winter Village at Cameron Run

Nov. 17 – Jan. 1, 5 pm – 10 pm

4001 Eisenhower Avenue, Cameron Run 

Enjoy ice skating while surrounded by a winter wonderland at Cameron Run Regional Park. Ice and Lights offers a fun, outdoor family experience, perfect for snapping family pictures with a variety of displays. Tickets are available for the Village Only or Village and Ice Skating evenings. Evening Outdoor Ice Skating is available nightly December 1 through January 1. All ice skating tickets are only available online. Daytime ice skating is available December 18-30 (and holidays throughout January and February). Prices range $8-20 per person depending on activity and date. Capacity is limited; reservations are required to ensure access on a specific date. Annual City of Alexandria Tree Lighting     

Nov. 18, 6 pm – 8 pm 

300 King Street, Old Town

You’ll get to take home a custom scribe and will walk away with Desiray’s no-fail white velvet sugar recipe, your decorated cookies, and “cookier” tips and tricks. 48th Annual Turkey Trot

Nov. 23, 9 am

1005 Mount Vernon Avenue, Del Ray   

Earn your Thanksgiving dinner this year by signing up for Del Ray’s favorite Thanksgiving morning tradition, the Alexandria Turkey Trot. Tour Mount Vernon by Candlelight

Nov. 24 – 25, Dec. 1-2, 8-9, 17

5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon 

Take a candlelit guided tour of George Washington’s estate while learning about holiday traditions in 18th-century Virginia. Hear stories of Christmases’ past and the build-up to the American Revolution as you visit the slave quarters, outbuildings, and Washington’s Mansion, then enjoy a reception with live music, cider, and cookies. Small Business Saturday

Nov. 25

Old Town

Celebrate Small Business Saturday in the D.C. region’s Shop Small headquarters, with offerings from dozens of independently owned boutiques in Old Town Alexandria and beyond. To celebrate Small Business Saturday, the shops of Del Ray will join in on the Old Town tradition and host a Shop Small Crawl on November 26, featuring special promotions, giveaways and other holiday surprises.
