The Belle View condominium community is located just south of Old Town, Alexandria. It is bordered by the George Washington Parkway to the east, Belle View Boulevard to the north and Wakefield Drive to the west and south.

Belle View History

Belle View is located within Belle Haven, an area along the Potomac River settled by Scottish settlers in the 18th century, which they named after the Earl of Belhaven. This area was later renamed Alexandria, and the current area that Belle View occupies lies where West Grove Plantation, built in 1748 by Hugh West, was located. The plantation switched ownership throughout the years until it fell victim to the Civil War, when it was burned to the ground. No new residencies were built until a civil engineer from Alexandria, David Howell purchased the land and began building residencies — current day Belle View — and a golf club, which still exists today as the Belle Haven Country Club.

Belle View Real Estate

Built in the early 1950’s, Belle View consists of 980 one- two- and three bedroom condos and townhouses. Community amenities include pools, tennis courts, and a town center. One bedroom units currently sell in the upper $100,000s to low $200,000s. One-level two bedroom units sell in the $200,000s while townhouse-style two bedroom units sell in the low $300,000s. Three bedroom units sell in the upper $200,000s.

Monthly condo fees depend on the unit and range from the upper $200s/month to the mid $400/month. The community sits on 56 beautifully landscaped acres.

Belle View Community

Belle View Condominium Unit Owners Association offers community activities including yard sales, an annual tree lighting, holiday events, and pool parties. There is also a Thursday Farmers Market in the community and an active Facebook group for residents.

Belle View Favorites

The nearby Mount Vernon Trail is perfect for walking, biking and soaking in views of the Potomac River and local wildlife. Stroll over to the Belle View Shopping Center for that perfect bottle of wine from Unwined or dinner at Dishes of India. Del Ray Pizza is also a short walk away as is the Belle Haven Country Club. Walk to the nearby Mount Vernon Rec Center for an indoor swim or spin on the ice rink.
