It was the first sunny 80+ degree day of the season and I couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy that than to dine al fresco with some friends! I met my group at the Georgetown Waterfront restaurant, Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place. My buddy, Nic, shared with me that they have a deal there during the spring and summer months that offers a full Maine lobster and a beer all for $20. Yes, please!
When I arrived, the restaurant was packed. Thankfully, my friends had already scoped out a great table right near the outdoor bar and fountain. We started with some appetizers. The first one was the Shrimp and Crab Dip, which consists of Maryland lump crab, topped with jack cheese and served with warm tortilla chips. It was DELICIOUS! Then came the Crispy Fried Shrimp, which is made in a buttermilk batter, has a little kick with roasted jalepeno and served with a jicama salad. Also DELICIOUS!
When the sun went down, we finally ordered our lobsters. They were accompanied by oyster shooters and parmesan garlic fires (not pictured because they were literally inhaled as soon as they hit the table – they were that good). There was complete silence as everyone cracked into and ate their crustaceans. It’s a messy job, but you do what you have to do. Nic had a friend visiting from Germany, who joined us for the outing. Jan, pictured with Nic and I, had never had lobster before and was not a fan of the messy process!
As we lingered after dinner, the restaurant turned on their outdoor fire pits. The atmosphere never slowed down. Being on the water, surrounded by friends, eating great food, and enjoying this amazing deal was the way I think I wouldn’t mind spending every Monday evening!
