Buzz Bakeshop

Talk about delicious sweets! Buzz Bakery has sweet breakfast foods along with amazing desserts such as cookies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and pie. Definitely try the S’mores cupcake or the Pumpkin Muffin with pecan crumble and stuffed with cream cheese frosting. While the bakery is crowded more often than not, the staff works diligently to get you your order!
Tropical Smoothie Cafe

Looking for a smoothie to make your day a bit healthier? Visit Tropical Smoothie Cafe to try one of its many different flavored smoothies such as the “Sunrise Sunset” with strawberries, pineapple, mango and orange juice or the nutritional powerhouse, “Detox Island Green” with spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, banana and fresh ginger. Its fresh salads, sandwiches, and wraps are also fabulous when you want a heartier meal. Tropical Smoothie also cares about philanthropy – they support a camp for children with life-threatening diseases and their families.

Rated one of the “50 Best Restaurants in D.C.” by Washington City Paper, this cozy restaurant is a popular stop in this part of town. The service is fabulous and the food is made with fresh local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Be sure to try one of Rustico’s Bavarian pretzel appetizers before your entree, pizza, or salad. Rustico takes pride in its beer as well, offering 30 taps connected to two coolers holding more than 300 different ales, lagers, ciders, and stouts. Rustico even has a special “dessert beer” menu!
Vaso’s Kitchen
1225 Powhatan Street
Craving authentic Greek cuisine? There is none better in Alexandria than Vaso’s! Lamp Kapama, Bifteki, based Moussaka and gyros are just a few of the specialties you’ll find at Vaso’s. Make sure you try the Saganaki, an appetizer made with kasseri cheese sautéed served with lemon. This neighborhood institution is beloved by locals who can’t say enough good things about it. Try their cozy patio on a nice night out!

This convenience store has everything that you forgot to get at the grocery store – eggs, milk, beer, chips, and even Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! Check out their great wine selection and excellent prices. Lee’s also offers bakery items in the morning and lunchtime deli sandwiches.
