Mark your calendars for Portside in Old Town Alexandria festival!
Be sure you head to Old Town Alexandria between October 12-14, 2018 for the new Portside festival. This festival celebrates the expansion of Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront and marks the start of a series of special event programming in this hot area.
Portside includes free tours of the tall ship Godspeed, a re-creation of one of the three ships that in 1607, brought America’s first permanent English colonists to Virginia. This living-history museum highlights Jamestown’s history and Virginia’s 1619 American Evolution commemoration as well as Alexandria’s history.
The festival also includes Port City Brewing Company’s waterfront beer garden, a Pizzeria Paradiso pop-up plus restaurant, plus live music, performance art, and a free fitness class from Sand & Steel Fitness. Kids will enjoy a craft workshop from A|R Workshop and a pizza-making demonstration. Car buffs can preview the Alexandria Festival of Speed & Style with its pop-up exotic car exhibit. The complete schedule can be found here.
There’s more to come later this fall! Port City will return to the waterfront two additional weekends (October 19- 20 and October 26-27), along with food from nearby Chadwicks and Mia’s Italian Kitchen. In November, the Alexandria Film Festival will host an outdoor screening of film shorts.
These events are all part of the expansion and revitalization of Old Town’s waterfront, including the launch of Robinson Landing. If you’d like to know more about living in Old Town, please reach out today.
