Our Favorite Alexandria Wine Bars

Here at The Goodhart Group, we love our wine! In honor or National Drink Wine Day, we thought we’d share our favorite Alexandria wine bars where you can enjoy a glass of vino.

IN OLD TOWN

Brut

Stop in to this charming team favorite at 118 S. Royal Street to sample from its amazing wine and champagne lists. You can also sample from its small and large plates, raclette, and charcuterie menus. Brut is also a retail shop where you can pick up that perfect bottle for your dinner.

Sonoma Cellar

Be sure to visit this gem of a wine bar in the heart of Old Town at 207 King Street. Enjoy their extensive wine list and special events such as winery visits. You can choose to taste from the wine list, purchase a three-ounce pour, a glass or /buy the bottle (buy a bottle to take home with you and you get a 30% discount).  Enjoy the charming outside patio and live music. Sonoma Cellar also has cigar nights on the patio on Tuesday nights where from 8:30 p.m. until closing. Be sure to visit on “Wine Down Wednesday” for 30% off selected bottles!

La Fromagerie

La Fromagerie, located at 1222 King Street, brings a taste of France right here in Old Town with farm to table cheese and meat boards, plus wine and craft beer in a cozy atmosphere. La Fromagerie’s wine list is always changing and includes more than 20 wines, which are offered by the glass, bottle or flight. Enjoy happy hour every Wednesday through Friday from 4-7 p.m., with house wines and select small plates for just $5. La Fromagerie also offers meat and cheese boards to take home for your next gathering. Yum!

Bastille

Located at 606 N. Fayette Street in Old Town, this French restaurant brings a taste of France right to 22314. Bastille, an Open Table 2016 Diner’s Choice winner, offers a Thursday wine special with ⅓ off bottles.

BRABO

The BRABO Tasting Room at 1600 King Street (within the Lorien Hotel)  offers a 3:30p-6:30 pm happy hour with rotating punch, glasses of white and red wine (as well as half-priced margaritas), plus and nibbles. Enjoy Brabo’s large community table and bar and global wine list.

ELSEWHERE IN ALEXANDRIA

Cheesetique

For those that love cheese with their wine, be sure to visit the charming Cheesetique, at 2411 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. Cheesetique offers happy hour every weeknight from 4-7 pm, with $2 off all shared plates and glasses. On Tuesdays, bottles of wine are 20% off, and on “Wine Down Wednesdays,” budget-friendly options are offered. Cheese plates, soups, salads, and sandwiches, including six varieties of grilled cheese, are available. With another nearby location in Shirlington, there’s no excuse not to visit!

With locations in the Bradlee and Belle View Shopping Centers, Unwined is an easy stop to grab that special bottle for any event. Offering many special events, including tastings and classes, Unwined is your one Alexandria stop for all things wine!
