A major Old Town North project now well underway
TideLock is a significant office-to-residential transformation in Old Town North at 1033, 1055, and 1111 N. Fairfax Street, converting and expanding the former TransPotomac Plaza office buildings into a mixed-use community along the Potomac River. The project topped out on February 4, 2025, marking a key construction milestone as it moves toward a 2026 completion.
What’s coming to TideLock
Current plans call for two nine-story residential towers plus a standalone retail/arts building:
- 65 luxury condominium residences
- Approximately 167–169 rental apartments
- A retail/arts building supporting the neighborhood’s arts corridor vision
- The condominiums will be marketed as The Residences at TideLock and the apartments as Current at TideLock.

Community features we’re watching
TideLock is designed to do more than add housing. Plans emphasize a more walkable, activated riverfront edge with public realm improvements that tie into Old Town North:
- A public pedestrian promenade and open space connections
- A dedicated arts component, with Levine Music long identified as a key tenant for the arts space
Sustainability and adaptive reuse
TideLock is also notable for its approach: it repurposes existing office building structure while expanding upward, and the project has been described as targeting LEED Silver.
What this means for buyers and renters
As Old Town North continues to evolve, TideLock is one of the anchor projects that helps define the neighborhood’s next chapter, especially for buyers looking for newer construction condos near the river and renters who want a more amenity-forward option with a 2026 move-in horizon.
