Westover is a delightful North Arlington community located just south of I-66. The community is an excellent example of midcentury urbanism and as such, is highly walkable. Served by several bus lines and the Ballston and the East Falls Church Metro stops on the popular Orange and Silver Lines, Westover is commuter’s dream.

Westover History

Westover began in the 1890s as one of the small communities that developed along newly- established electric rail lines in northern Virginia. The Westover Shopping Center was constructed in 1940 and remains an anchor for the neighborhood today. The active Westover Baptist Church also dates back to 1940 and remains a vital part of the community.

Westover Real Estate

Westover’s landmarks are its hilly streets, mature trees, and red-brick Colonials. The neighborhood consists of pre-World War II single family houses, two-story garden-style apartment complexes, townhouses, and some duplexes.

Westover Community

The popular Westover farmers’ market takes place Sunday mornings from May to November at the corner of Washington Boulevard and N. McKinley Road. Don’t miss the Westover Market & Beer Garden, which offers live music, local meats and produce, and a wide variety of craft beers.

Westover Favorites

Support a good cause with a visit to a Westover institution (since 1985!), the Lost Dog Cafe. Its owners also run the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation, which has helped over 18,000 animals find their “forever homes” since its inception. Check out The Italian Store, a neighborhood standby for imported Italian pastas, wines, cheeses, plus fabulous takeout subs. Visit Lebanese Taverna for either a sit down meal or take out of their amazing Middle Eastern specialties.
