Aurora Highlands History

Aurora Highlands grew with the arrival of the electric railway. From the 1920’s through the 1950’s, it experienced expansive growth brought about by a high demand for housing outside of the District. The neighborhood as we know it today emerged in the late 1950’s. The land was originally three separate divisions known as Addison Heights, Aurora Hills, and Virginia Highlands, each platted and designed between 1886 and 1930 by separate developers.
