A Nashville Weekend Getaway: Compass Style

September 27, 2019 | #travelwithcompass | By: The Goodhart Group

We can’t get enough of Nashville!!!  After spending a few days in Music City this past June at a Compass retreat, we loved the city so much we knew we needed to do a #travelwithcompass series on this beautiful place. We re-connected with Compass agent Michelle Maldonado and her team to get the low-down on all things from the Music City. With their help, we’ve mapped out a handy guide on where you should stay, eat, and what local items you should be sure to check off of your bucket list before you head home.

Where do you typically recommend visitors stay for a trip to Nashville?

Michelle: They’re cracking down on residential AirBnB’s but if you can find one, 12South and Germantown would be fun neighborhoods for Airbnb.  For those coming for the “Nashville” music experience, the historic side of downtown near the capitol will offer lots of character along with being walkable to lots of live music.  Boutique hotels in historic downtown include Dream, Bobby, and Noelle Hotel.

Allison:  I can’t agree more!  Sue, Marty and I stayed at the Noelle Hotel, which was in a stunning old building and had a fabulous rooftop bar!

What are the not to miss restaurants or dining experiences in Nashville?

Michelle: Germantown has lots of my favorite restaurants including 5th & Taylor, City House, Silo, and Germantown Cafe.  Deb Paquet is a long time Nashville chef and her restaurant Etch is one of my favorites.  Cafe Margot in East Nashville is an original Nashville favorite as well.

Obviously, Nashville is known for its music scene.  Where should people go to get a great music experience?

Michelle: Basement East and the original Basement on 8th Ave, The 5 Spot, Exit Inn, and Station Inn all have great local live music.  The Honkey Tonks of course – especially Roberts are a must see.

What are some other fun or interesting things to do in Nashville outside of getting your fill of live music?

Michelle: I love the hiking here – Radnor Lake is a gorgeous protected area great for a peaceful walk with plenty of wildlife there is also Percy Warner park which has endless miles of trails.

Thank you so much for your time!  We know you are the go-to Realtor in Nashville, so to give everyone a little local listing flair, do you have any fun Nashville listings you can tell us about?

Michelle: This spectacular condo in the heart of historic downtown Nashville which has been renovated from a 1911 denim factory.  It holds a rare short term rental permit and so allows owners the flexibility to occupy and lease.

If you’re headed to Nashville, please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can help in any way.  Or, if you need any real estate help in the Music City, we would be happy to connect you with Michelle and her team as well!
