Travel With Compass – Miami

July 19, 2022 | #travelwithcompass | By: The Goodhart Group

Miami is famous for its pristine beaches, electric nightlife, and fantastic sunny weather – making it a top travel destination in the U.S. For this edition of Travel With Compass, we teamed up with one of our good friends – and one of the most fun Compass agents – Levi Meyer to get the inside scoop on all things Miami.

Where would you recommend people stay for a visit to Miami? Any specific hotels or neighborhoods you recommend visitors stay in like stay in?

Miami Beach is the most popular Miami destination for tourism as it has the benefit of being right on the ocean. When staying in Miami Beach, we recommend 1 Hotel or Faena Hotel, but if you are looking for something less hectic and don’t need the sand on your toes every day, we suggest you go across the bay to Coconut Grove and stay at Mr C Hotel by Cipriani. The grove has fantastic restaurants and shops, is very walkable, and is a short ride to Brickell or Miami Beach for nightlife.

What are some of the can’t miss restaurants or dining experiences in Miami?

Miami’s food scene has exploded over the past few years, with big brand names and small restaurants alike. Major Food Group has recently brought Sadell’s, Carbone, Hasalon, Dirty French, and ZZ’s to South Florida, and they are all worth checking out. Some of our other personal favorites are Mila, Swan, Novikov, Zuma, KYU, Amara at Paraiso, and Mandolin.

What are some of the things you recommend those visiting check out or do while in Miami?

Miami is all about the water and the tropical experience. We highly recommend spending a day on the water. From renting a small boat to chartering a yacht for the day, a trip to Miami is not complete without a day on the Bay! At the very least, you can rent a paddle board in Sunset Harbor and paddle around the islands gawking at $15-$80M homes. And if you can’t get on the water, at least be next to it; you can walk or bike across the Venetian Islands from Miami Beach to Edgewater/Wynwood or go for drinks rooftop at Watr or catch a sunset with a drink in hand at Lido Lounge at The Standard. We even have many waterfront parks throughout the city, including the waterfront Perez Art Museum and adjacent park, which are both right across from the FTX Arena, where you can catch a show or a Miami Heat basketball game.

What are some other fun or interesting things to do in the Miami area that people may not think of?

To name a few random wild experiences….you can SkyDive in Homestead, take a Seaplane tour by Watson Island, or an Airboat ride in the Everglades to see see the wetlands and maybe spot some alligators!

What makes the Meyer Group unique?

While the majority of Miamians are transplants, Meyer Group is composed of generational Miami natives! We were raised here, our parents were raised here, and our children are being raised here. From the best restaurants to emerging neighborhoods to invest in, and from nightclubs to schools, we live and breathe this city. Most of our clients come to us as referrals from our friends and colleagues, so in turn, our clients then become our friends. We genuinely love where we live, which makes helping our clients navigate their home purchases and investments a fun experience for us. Our small team has sold $55 Million in real estate in the past 12 months, and we loved every one of those sales and clients!

The Bottom Line

Thank you, Levi & The Meyer Group, for your insights into one of our favorite cities. We can’t wait to visit again!  If you are looking to buy or sell a home in the Miami area, please contact us, and we would love to put you in touch with Levi and his team. Be sure to check out his amazing series, Meyer on the Move in Miami, and give him a follow on Instagram. We can’t recommend him enough!
