Soccer

Alexandria Soccer Association’s comprehensive offerings include a recreational program for tots ages 2-4, kids ages 5-12,  the Suburban Friendship League (SFL) for teenagers and an academy (travel) program for boys and girls ages U9 through U18. ASA also offers supplemental skills training programs year-round for all age groups, futsal (a five-on-five game played on a hard court surface without side walls), and adult programs. ASA is also home to TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) a community-based soccer program for youth athletes with disabilities.

Lee Mt. Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) Recreational Soccer is offered for kids age four through high school. The LMVSC travel soccer program serves the Alexandria, Gunston, Springfield, and South County areas with more than 45 travel teams for players ages 8-19. LMVSC also offers camps, clinics, and futsal programs.

Gunston Soccer Club offers both recreational (U3 – U19) and travel (U9-U19) soccer programs as well as TOPSoccer, skills clinics, and summer camps. Gunston also has a unique U7 & U8 Academy program, designed to prepare players for the transition to travel soccer. Gunston serves the Fort Hunt and Mount Vernon areas of Alexandria (as well as Lorton and South County) but is open to all. Non-Fairfax county residents will be assessed an additional $30 non-resident fee per player per season (required by Fairfax County Park Authority).

Fort Hunt Little League’s baseball options are for children ages 4 through 18. Its three baseball seasons begin with spring baseball, followed by summer tournaments for players seeking post-season tournament-style play. Fall Ball starts just before Labor Day and continues into early November. From tee ball to kid-pitch to Fort Hunt Challenger (for kids with special needs), there is an option for everyone.

Football

Alexandria Titans Youth Football Club (ATYFC) offers teams for boys ages 7 to 14. It is a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League, a full-contact league. ATYFC also offers a Lil’ Titans Flag Football program as well as cheerleading.

Fort Hunt Football and Cheer is a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL), a full-contact league. Kids ages 7-16 play games against opponents, of comparable size and ability, throughout Fairfax County. Fort Hunt’s house flag football program is designed for boys and girls ages 5 – 14. Its co-ed cheer program is for kids ages 5 – 14, who cheer at all Fort Hunt home games, which take place at Carl Sandburg Middle School.

Volleyball

While the City does not offer recreational volleyball, kids can play in the nearby Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association, which offers a robust program for both boys and girls.

There are some club volleyball options in Alexandria. Check out Titans Volleyball Club, which offers teams from U12 – U16 and Evolution Volleyball Club. Evolution offers club volleyball for girls ages 12-18 as well as developmental teams for 4th through 8th-grade boys and girls. Evolution also offers high school developmental teams.

Basketball

Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association’s recreational basketball program runs from first grade through high school for both boys and girls. The winter house league season runs from December to early March. Its county travel teams begin in 5th grade. While there are no geographic boundaries for the house league, county players must live in one of the following zip codes: 22306, 22307, 22308, and 22309.
