The Washington Nationals are playing for the World Series for the first time in franchise history! If you want to venture off your couch but can’t get tickets for the games, check out our list of spots to watch the Nationals and take in watch parties throughout DC, Maryland and Virginia. Metro has also announced they are running extended hours to get fans home after the game.

The Bullpen
1201 Half St. SE
The huge outdoor venue located right down the street from Nationals Park has quickly become the go-to viewing party spot similar to how fans lined in the streets around Capital One Arena during the Capitals Stanley Cup playoff run. With its huge outdoor screen and drink specials the Bullpen is the place to be if you want a similar atmosphere to the stadium experience. Expect it to be filled to capacity, so be sure to get there early if you want a good spot!
Blue Jacket Brewery
300 Tingey St. SE
A few blocks east of the stadium, this very popular brewery will tap a brand-new double IPA for the occasion aptly named 86 Years. A reference to how long it’s been since a Washington baseball team has made it to the World Series. The new beer goes on draft Tuesday in time for Game 1. Blue Jacket will also have the food & beer specials available during their watch parties for all away games.
The Brig
1007 8th St. SE
The Brig hasn’t been open long, but this German style outdoor beer garden in Barracks Row has already attracted a big following. One of the features includes a huge 25 foot projection screen on an adjacent building. They’re also in close proximity to Nationals Park so you can still get the game day atmosphere as well. The Brig is also great for groups with large picnic tables making it easy for a group to sit together.
Walter’s Sports Bar
10 N St. SE
Named after legendary Washington Senator’s pitcher Walter Johnson, Walter’s has become a go-to pregame spot around Nationals Park, especially since it’s located right across the street from the stadium. Walter’s also usually runs Nats game specials on Bud Light and Truly that are worth checking, plus a wall of self-service beer taps. Having only been open about six months, Walter’s is the sister restaurant to the famous Dan’s Cafe up on Georgia Avenue.
The Salt Line
79 Potomac Ave. SE
Co-owned by original National Ryan Zimmerman, the highly regarded seafood restaurant is located on the south side of Nationals Park. The dock bar has large TVs behind the bar facing four directions, offering views to all guests. If you get hungry, be sure to try the oysters! If the Nats are away, you can enjoy half priced local oysters, $5 draft beers, and $5 glasses of wine.
Nationals Park Watch Parties
Should the World Series head back to Houston for games 6 and 7, Nationals Park likely could hold more watch parties. We all remember the famous watch parties inside Capital One Arena that grew during the Capitals run to the Stanley Cup in 2018, including the over 70 thousand people that tried to get tickets for the decisive game 5. Buzz is quickly growing around the watch parties with several thousand people attending the one during game 2. Admission is free to the watch parties in the stadium, but they do require a ticket to enter.

Duffy’s

Duffy’s owner is a big time Nats fan and the bar prides itself on being one of the first establishments for die-hard Nats fans. With the team appearing in its first World Series, you can expect Duffy’s to be jammed. The owner also frequently has Nats related specials throughout the season. Now on H Street, the bar also features the Devil’s Backbone brewing Nationals themed Earned Run Ale. If you get hungry, be sure to give the very popular wings a try.
Church Hall
1070 Wisconsin Avenue, NW
This Georgetown beer hall has eight 70″ screens to get you as close to the action as possible. You can count on this bar to always have the biggest games on throughout the day. Check out its Monday through Friday Happy Hour from 4 – 7 p.m. with $5 rail cocktails and select pints and $6 select food items. Definitely try the Shandy slushie! Church Hall has an impressive lineup of 28 draft beers, plus draft cocktails like Cherry Blossom Gin & Tonic and the Hibiscus John Daly (made with vodka, hibiscus-infused black tea, and homemade lemonade). Save room for the Funnel cakes for dessert!
The Occidental
1475 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
If you’re a history buff, The Occidental might be for you. More than 80 years ago, the then Washington Senators celebrated their World Series victory at this downtown dining room near the White House. In honor of the Nats heading to the World Series, The Occidental is holding watch parties on their patio where you can also support the Youth Baseball Academy Initiative and sip on exquisite cocktails.
1221 Connecticut Avenue, NW
Three big screens TVs and 22 TVs make Lucky Bar, located just south of Dupont Circle, the perfect place to watch multiple games. It’s also great for DC soccer fans, as it opens early on the weekends for breakfast so you can watch those Premier league games. Lucky Bar runs a generous five-hour Happy Hour (from 3 – 8 p.m.!), on every weeknight, except Thursdays, with $3.50 pints, $5 local craft beers, and $4 rail drinks. Check out Lucky Bar on an upcoming Taco Tuesday, when you’ll enjoy $1 tacos and $5 Tecates all night.

Penn Social offers three bars, serving 30 draft beers! Stop by for daily happy hour from 4-7 p.m. for $2 off draft beer, $5 rail drinks and $6 glasses of wine. Just a few blocks from Capitals One Arena, the menu features classic pub grub including sliders, nachos, pizza, wings, and soft pretzels. When there’s a break in the action, check out Penn Social’s super fun selection of games like shuffleboard, corn hole, foosball, and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, arcade games and much more.

If you want a classic no-frills casual dive bar then the Pug is for you. The Pug on H Street has quickly become a big spot to check out the Nats games in the neighborhood. Don’t come to The Pug expecting a wide range of IPA’s, instead expect classic cheap canned beer to go perfect with the atmosphere. Sometimes even the owner buys Ledo Pizza for the customers.
Virginia & Maryland
1106 King Street, Alexandria, VA
The newly reopened Augie’s Mussel House has extended their happy hour until 9pm during all World Series games. Some of the specials include $3 Narraggansett beers, $5 wines, and $5 house spirits. Discounted appeteizers include $6 wings & steak and cheese egg rolls as well as $7 chili dogs and brats. Augie’s only recently reopened in early October after their 1800’s building underwent renovations. The new space includes two floors plus an outdoor heated patio with TV’s both inside and outside.

The popular brewery located off of Pickett Street will be showing the games on their enormous 180″ projector screen. Additionally, they’ll be offering 10% off all draft beers to anyone wearing Nats gear.

Located in South Arlington in the Shirlington neighborhood, Dudley’s is Virginia’s largest multi-level sports bar and rooftop. Catch their happy hour before the game including $5 drafts, wine, White Claw, and Appetizers. The biggest draw is their stadium style seating section featuring Arlington’s largest projector with 20 theater style seats plus a sound matrix. The stadium seating is first come first serve so be sure to get there early! Dudley’s is also co-owned by Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo.

Open since 1998, this Alexandria establishment is often compared to the famous TV bar “Cheers.” Enjoy the big game in Bugsy’s upper level sports bar. From Monday – Friday, you can enjoy their $5 lunch special or Happy Hour from 4-7pm with “college priced” beer and wine and $5 appetizers. Bugsy’s was founded by former Washington Capitals’ hockey player Bryan “Bugsy” Watson.
Joe Theismann’s Restaurant
1800A Diagonal Road, Alexandria, VA
Founded by the former Commanders’ quarterback in 1975, Joe Theismann’s Restaurant is a casual neighborhood spot that is a step above your typical sports bar. Its loyal clientele of local workers, neighbors, and the occasional celebrity is complemented by Alexandria’s tourists. Theismann’s is also offering bottomless Appetizers for $30 per person, though the whole table must order in order to qualify for the promotion. This is certainly one of the most well-known sports bars in Alexandria.
