Client Case Study:

Trying to Buy a Home On Your Own

Trying to buy a home on your own? Read our case study on how we recently helped on young couple land the home of their dreams after trying (unsuccessfully) to buy on their own. You’ll love the fairy tale ending!

THE CLIENT

B&N are an adorable couple in their 20’s. They decided to move in and purchase a home together. Both were first-time home buyers. B&N were referred to us by a past client we’d helped purchase an Old Town home the previous year.

THE PROBLEM

B&N had been trying to purchase a home on their own for several months. They had made one offer on a home, navigating the process without much guidance. After that experience (and not getting the house), they reached out to us based on a friend’s recommendation.

HOW WE HELPED

First, we met with B&N to explain the benefits of working with a buyer’s agent. We walked them through the home buying timeline and process. We then took them on a neighborhood orientation tour to introduce them to areas they had not considered that could be a fit for them.

Once they had a better sense of where they wanted to be, we were able to tell them about properties before they hit the market (including the one they eventually bought). Our negotiation team helped them negotiate a successful contract with a credit for them to make renovations on the home.

Once they were under contract, we connected B&N with contractors and designers to help them plan out the renovations they wanted to make on the home. We even introduced them to other clients of ours who live on the same Old Town block!

END RESULT

B&N ended up buying a fabulous home in an area that we viewed on their orientation tour – one that they hadn’t considered previously. Bonus – the home wasn’t yet on the market so they were the first buyers in the door.

Not only did they find and settle on their new home quickly and make the renovations they dreamed of, they got engaged along the way! N popped the question as they were about to cross over the threshold of their new home.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

The Goodhart Group helped us every step of the way, made the process so incredibly easy and seamless, and really did a QUALITY job with EVERY aspect of this home buying process. They are extremely communicative, will hold your hand where needed, are seemingly always “on the job”, not to mention they know the right people (literally had great connections and recommendations for everyone I could think of– contractors, locksmith, etc.). The second we met with Sue, we knew we were in the right place. We mainly worked with Allison thereafter, and we could not have been happier with her.

It is evident that these people know the area, have strong pull within this community, and will get the job done well (not to mention there is zero “salesman” feeling with them– just normal people who are trying to find the best fit for you as a home buyer– this is a company with class and you will feel very well taken care of without feeling pressured into anything).

This is the way service-based industries should operate– you don’t find customer service like this anymore. Could not recommend them more highly. We were thrilled with our experience and will definitely sell with them in the future and recommend to all of our friends. We can’t thank them enough!
