Glover Park is a mostly residential area off Wisconsin Avenue, a half mile north of Georgetown and west of the US Naval Observatory (home of the Vice President of the US). While not serviced by a Metro station, several bus lines run to Georgetown, Downtown DC, and Maryland. Glover Park is not far from the Red Line’s Tenleytown Metro stop. Glover Park is walkable to many restaurants and the action in Georgetown and Tenleytown.

Glover Park History

Glover Park is named after Charles Carroll Glover, a prominent 19th-20th century DC banker and philanthropist credited with preserving Rock Creek Park. The development of Glover Park expanded in the mid-late 1920s with the construction of row houses, apartment buildings, and a commercial strip along Wisconsin Avenue.

Glover Park is an active neighborhood and its residents enjoy participating in community affairs. The annual Glover Park Day celebration offers live music, local fare, and activities for all. Nearby Guy Mason Park and Recreation Center is equipped with a playground, baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, and more.

Every morning and evening, Glover Park residents can hear the Naval Observatory play the sounding of colors synchronized to the nation’s Master Clock. Residents also enjoy hearing the bells from the nearby National Cathedral.

Visit Old Europe for authentic German fare including schnitzels, bratwurst, and sauerbraten, plus an extensive offering of German beers and wines. You’ll also find Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and CorePower Yoga in the neighborhood. And all the amenities of Georgetown are walkable as well.
