Annandale is a DC suburb located southwest of the District. It bisected by the Little River Turnpike and the Capital Beltway and lies west of I-395 between North Springfield and Merrifield. Rolling hills, mature trees and wide streets typify this suburban, commuter city. Annandale is home to original campus of Northern Virginia Community College. While not on a Metro line, Annandale is served by Metrobus. Annandale offers great “bang for the buck” for your housing dollar, plus commuting convenience.

Annandale History

Annandale is bisected by Accotink Creek, which in Colonial times, was a primary link for ocean-going ships carrying tobacco and other goods to the world abroad. The creek was dammed in the 1960s to create Lake Accotink, a water supply for the nearby U.S. Army’s Fort Belvoir Proving Ground.

Home styles in Annandale are primarily single family homes – ramblers, Cape Cods, split levels, Colonials and some contemporaries. There are a few condo and townhome developments as well.

Annandale Community

The 75+ year old Annandale Parade takes place every October and features clowns, marching bands, antique cars, fire trucks, dancers and more. The Annandale Hospital Bed Race is much-loved community event that raises funds for local projects and non-profits.  A Thursday morning farmers market takes place from May through November at Annandale’s Mason District Park.

Lake Accotink is a popular recreation area for fishing and boat rentals. Annandale also boasts nearly 30 public parks and the Fairfax Cross County Trail (FCCT) provides 20 miles of uninterrupted hiking, biking, running trails. A handful of public and private golf courses are just a short drive away.

Asian food lovers, treat yourself to a meal at one of Annandale many fine Asian eateries, including Yechon Korean Restaurant, Jang Won Ban Jum (Korean & Chinese), Duck Chang’s for Peking Duck, and A&J for Chinese dim sum. Silverado is another popular Annandale dining option, serving “cowboy fun and the world’s best fajitas!”
