Rosslyn History

Rosslyn has played an integral role in Virginia history for nearly 400 years. Since the completion of the Aqueduct Bridge in 1843, Rosslyn has acted as the unofficial gateway to Arlington and the state. Rosslyn also served as a colonial ferry landing and Civil War military encampment. From the late 1800s through 1941, Rosslyn was a commuter hub for electric rail service. The Civil Rights era helped spur Rosslyn’s growth, as business and government agencies sought office space close to DC that was perceived to be safe from rioting.
