Property Description

2416 Ridge Road Drive

2416 Ridge Road Drive is the stunning result of the vision of the late Alexandria Judge George M. Giammittorio, formerly of the Circuit Court of Alexandria. Built in 1950, this stately Colonial sited on 1.33 acres, realizes his dream of a grand home with the finest of European craftsmanship and details. Just two families have called this special property home — you can be the third!

Upon entering the stunning, arched foyer, you can easily sense the potential for making special memories in this elegant and inviting residence. This home is stately yet warm, providing the perfect backdrop for both family living and entertaining. Thoughtful details and the highest quality workmanship abound at 2416 Ridge Road Drive, from its many detailed moldings and built-ins to its plentiful nooks and crannies — perfect for playing hide and seek.

The heart of this elegant home is its generously sized kitchen with four ovens, expansive island, enormous Palladian window, breakfast room, and cozy fireplace. The kitchen overlooks the spectacular gardens, creating a peaceful spot for dining and entertaining. The kitchen opens to the family room, also offering large windows and a fireplace, creating the perfect entertaining space. Many dinner parties took place in this very spot over the years — some as large as 24 people including some notable VIPs. Guests will appreciate the convenient powder room found off the main foyer. A laundry room with ample storage completes the main level.

The home’s grand staircase leads to the first upper level, which features the master suite and three additional, very private bedrooms (no shared walls) and a bathroom. All bedrooms offer views of the home’s professionally landscaped grounds. Up one additional level is an open loft space, with one more bedroom and full bathroom, perfect for teenagers and sleepover parties.

The lower level of the home boasts a walkout rec room with built-in storage and a yet another fireplace. It also includes an au pair suite with a private entry and finished kitchen, an ideal retreat for guests or long term visitors. Storage abounds on this lower level, with rooms formerly used for wine-making and other hobbies, awaiting your vision.

The home’s exquisite grounds offer a serene oasis in the heart of Alexandria City. Its gardens are ideal for watching the varieties of birds – more than 100! – that have been spotted here, including bald eagles. You can take in the sights and sounds of nature from the home’s charming sun-room with mahogany ceilings or the home’s screened porch. Stroll among the ground’s many trees, including a majestic magnolia – possibly Alexandria’s oldest – perfect for children who enjoy climbing. The grounds offer additional space for other cherished summer pastimes such as badminton and water slides. The thoughtful landscaping offers privacy and is a perfect compliment to this peaceful setting. Two brick patios and a built-in brick barbeque make for convenient outdoor entertaining. The home’s circular driveway provides ample parking for many guests.

More than a dozen parks can be found within two miles of the home’s Braddock Heights community. The neighborhood is conveniently located less than a mile from the Braddock Road Metro station and offers also easy access to the Pentagon, Capital Beltway, Interstate 395, and George Washington Parkway. The shopping, dining, and entertainment of Old Town are just two miles down the road.

The Neighborhood

Braddock Heights is home to Lloyds Lane and Orchard Lane. This area has somewhat of a country feel while being conveniently close to DC and the Pentagon. Parts of Braddock Heights were built in the ‘40s and ‘50s with square brick colonials. You’ll find some larger estate homes, smaller tudors, and stone houses in Jefferson Park. In Beverley Hills, most homes are smaller houses from the 1930-1940s that have been added on to. This area is home to three elementary schools: George Mason, St. Stephens and St. Agnes Lower Campus, and Alexandria Country Day School. The Pit is the neighborhood playground in Beverley Hills. This neighborhood is famous for its abundance of mature trees and spring blossoming of the Azaleas and is where musician Dave Grohl used to live.
